I think I might be....

.... a little obsessed ... Or maybe a lot obsessed. During my many hours of searching through wedding blogs and websites, I found myself just staring at these pictures.

I love these straws. I love straws in general and think they make drinking so much more fun but THESE straws are by far my favorite and I knew I HAD to have them for my wedding. But after doing my homework, I realized that they are very hard to find, and when you do find them, people are charging somewhere in the vacinity of $9 for a pack of 25 straws and you don't even get to choose what color you want. So considering I would need somewhere around 250 straws, that would mean I'd be spending about $100 on straws alone... an arm and a leg ... AKA not going to happen.

So I did what I do in all my little situations... I prayed. Kind of silly thinking back on it now- that I would bother God about helping me find affordable straws but that's what I did. And sure enough God was like, "Here you go Whitney. Here's an awesome website where you can get your straws." Oh, my goodness! Thank you Jesus!!
So for all of you who love these straws but were in the same sad state that I was, I'm going to share this with you!

You can get a pack of 50 for $3 and you can even choose the color you want!!! (I picked pink, of course) So rather than spending $100, I only spent $15.

No matter how small or silly the request, God has still shown himself through all of this and has been with me through this entire planning process, guiding me to exactly the right places at exactly the right times. I feel so blessed :-)

Goats and Gifts

As you might know from our previous post, it was me and Isaac's 5 year anniversary this week. Each year we've made it a tradition to go to Tanner's Orchard and this year was no different. I think going to Tanner's is a MUST fall activity. We love picking out the perfect pumpkin, walking arm and arm through the yummy market, and taste testing the different apples. I swear I walk out of that place with armfuls of food every year. This year I decided that I needed apples (to make a pie, of coarse...yet I've never made a pie in my entire life), a loaf of garlic bread, raspberry scones (which were the most amazing things I've ever tasted), a dozen apple cider doughnuts (a staple purchase when you go to Tanner's), some blueberry muffins, and four cute little gourds to decorate the kitchen. It was the best 2 pounds I've ever gained!

However, Isaac's personal favorite thing to do at Tanner's (besides eat) is play with the goats. Yep, he loves them. Here are a few videos from the past 2 years of Isaac and his goats.

Since we've been engaged, we've been very practical in our gift giving and had very practical gifts in mind to give each other. I guess my gift to Isaac isn't so practical in the price department but considering he was using 3 fans at night, I figured he should consolidate space and energy and use one cool looking fan instead (plus I got it on sale!). DYSON. It enchanted us. A company on the edge of technological genius.

Isaac has had this fan turned on for hours and hours everyday since I gave it to him and it works like a dream. DYSON had become our new best friend. However, I had only dreamed about owning a DYSON vacuum because the hefty price (over $500) was a little more than I was willing to part with for a vacuum of all things, but one fateful day we walked into the heavenly store of Macy's and stumbled upon a DYSON vacuum listed for 40% off of the sale price! The salesperson was quick to inform us that if we opened a Macy's card we could get an additional 15% percent off. I never thought in my life that I would ever get excited about a vacuum, but after doing some research and realizing that this is a top of the line vacuum with a 4.8 out of 5 star rating, I couldn't wait to take it home and vacuum with it! After all the discounts and store cards, we ended up getting this little beauty for 70% off!!!!! Just thinking about the price we paid for a $500 vacuum makes me do a little jig on my nice fluffy clean carpet. Thank you Isaac! Happy Anniversary to me. Happy Anniversary to us.

5 YEAR ANNIVERSARY!

Isaac and I have been dating for 5 years as of yesterday, October 15th! It's so crazy how the time has flown by and how so much has happened in our lives in those 5 years. I mean, 5 years ago I met this cute little stud muffin, knowing that we lived 2,000 miles away from eachother so nothing would come of it, but we gave it a shot and now we're getting married. Isn't it crazy how God works things out? If we hadn't taken that leap of faith 5 years ago, I don't want to know what type of person I would be today. If it weren't for Isaac, I wouldn't be a worship leader(ish), I wouldn't stand up for myself in times when all I want to do is hide, I wouldn't be as silly (which to me is a bad thing because silliness makes life so much fun), I wouldn't bake as much- haha since most of the time I bake for him... and the majority of these things are now my FAVORITE things. What would I have done with out him? I am not quite sure.

I feel like I'm writing a diary post. Enough of the mushiness. Onto the silliness...

This song always makes me happy! I dedicate this song to Isaac! Stay tuned for some goat videos (I'll explain later) and a post on anniversary presents!

Registering: Oh what fun!

Last week we went to go establish our wedding registries at Macy's, Target and Pottery Barn. I was kind of nervous because I thought this was going to be really overwhelming. I mean how does one register for things to fill an entire house? So that's why I brought Tara with me... things that overwhelm me are just her next exciting challenge. She gets organized and detailed and broke it down so I wouldn't feel defeated before I began.

We started off at Macy's, and an extra stow away in tow. I was babysitting my cousin Rebecca's baby Garrison that weekend, and since he looks alot like me, I'm sure the Macy's saleswomen thought he was our illegitimate child... but I was ok with that- he's a cute little nugget. After a half an hour of the saleswomen trying to get it together and set up our registry account, Garrison wasn't the only one getting antsy. Honestly, it was getting a little ridiculous, and I considered walking right out of there. Finally, after yelling to each other from one desk to another and scrambling to find all their paperwork to give us, the sales lady handed us the scanner, and we were on our way. After weaving our way through the aisles, I stumbled upon the Martha Stewart collection... and quickly decided I needed about everything she had available! This, I'm sure, would have been really annoying for Isaac considering it was all kitchen supplies, but he had the manly duty of holding the scanner, pretending it was his gun and seeing how far back he could stand and scan things... those things have good range.

Registering, I realized, was alot of fun! I will admit, I almost got carried away... (Tara had to talk me out of a $100 toaster) but I quickly came to my senses and found more reasonably priced appliances. After about an hour, and 4 pages of items and, we decided to call it quits.

A couple days later, me and Isaac decided to go to Target. By now, I gained confidence and felt we could do it on our own. Target was a little bit easier, considering you don't have to deal with crazy, yelling sales people. I printed off our registry, they handed us a scanner and away we went.... we stopped to take a few pictures along the way.

Isaac, excited to be holding the scanner....
...but I quickly found him in places like this... looking just like this... mouth open and blank stare. Oh boys.

I, on the other hand, am quite a girl... scanning things for our closet... because every girl needs an organized closet.

Rice makers, Tupperware , spatulas, toasters, storage bins, trash cans, flash lights.... it's crazy the amount of money it takes to buy everyday necessities... and yet it so much fun when it's not your own money!!

What's really nice is these days all the places have online registries, so you can manage and track your registry online. It has made things so much easier for me, because I can go and delete duplicate items or add anything I forgot. Also, they have a continuation program, so they put a percentage from every purchase off your registry toward the items you don't get, that way after your wedding you have a nice little bundle to complete your registry.
So now I breath a sigh of relief to have this off my shoulders, and presumptuously onto yours! Happy shopping everyone! haha
